The smallest of the Ionian Islands

It is the smallest of the Ionian Islands. From the moment you get to Gaius, the small port of Palos, realize that a beautiful world of small size is offered for exploration, because the uniqueness of the island is its size. Its surface is so small that you can to walk from end to end. Its length and width are 10 and 4 km respectively. The maximum height of the island is San Issuer (250 meters). It is covered with vines and olive trees and more like a large flower garden. Along the east coast, and within walking distance are the tiny islands Panama (Pangaea, Our Lady). Ayes Nikolas (Adios Nikolas), and Cationic Mongolism.
The fine sandy beaches of the island are invited to the bathroom and calm waters are indicated by fishing. Another possibility is to turn the island by speedboat whitish rocks admiring the stunning coastline and beautiful coves and caves full of turtles.
On the east coast is Gaius, the main town of beautiful houses and narrow streets, beautiful example of the traditional architecture of the Ionian Islands. It was built in an enclosed bay deep and has rich vegetation. From the picturesque harbor you can see the islands of Ayes Nickolas Panama and its Venetian Fortress and old windmill.
Lake is a village built in a bay sheltered from the winds in an area planted with pine and olive trees. Lake is typical of the low houses painted brown and indigo.
From Lake, 2 nautical miles away, can be reached by motorboat to marine grotto of “Ipapandi (Purification).
The traveler is in Palos August 15 may join the faithful who come to the monastery Panay, on the tiny island of the same name. The pilgrimage continues throughout the day and night and ends with dancing in the square of Gaius.
Pleasant excursions may be made to the islands Panay, Ayes Nikolas, Mongolism and Cationic. From Palos can also access Para, a small town on the mainland with a Venetian castle and a superb beach, or Antipaxos.
Antipaxos is almost covered with vines, has wonderful beaches and one small village of 150 inhabitants. It is an unspoiled and peaceful island that offers shelter to the traveler-loving soldier, tranquility and serenity.
