Tour operators, wholesalers and leading travel agencies located in the United States to Mexico as a key destination for tourism in Latin America, said the deputy director general of the Council of the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB), Rodolfo Lopez Ingrate.

During a meeting with industry representatives in Cancun, Quintana Room, the officer presented the strategies the agency and the Ministry of Tourism (Tourism Ministry) developed to increase the flow of Americans to Mexico, covering media in the neighboring country and an innovative social media campaign.

Lopez Ingrate said that this country remains the main destination in Latin America for American travelers of the Union, with a market share of 14.7 percent.

At the appropriate representatives of the tourism industry in the United States asserted that campaigns implemented in that market have been appropriate to interest of travelers and expressed interest in spreading the attractions of Mexico.

Steve Gorge, president and CEO, Travel Impressions, a subsidiary of American Express and one of the largest tour operator companies in the United States offered to join efforts to publicize the attractions of this nation.

He acknowledged the work of the authorities of the sector and stressed that Mexico is one of the favorite destinations for the U.S. market.

Angela Goicouria turn, vice president of Alliances Virtuoso, a company specializing in luxury travel, explained the importance of this country in that segment and said that “Mexico is rich in history, traditions and has the necessary infrastructure to meet the demands of tourists with high purchasing power.”

Peter Greenberg, travel editor of CBS, said that soon will be presented at a large U.S. television report on the major tourist sites in Mexico.

During the meeting, Lopez Ingrate said the impetus it has given the Federal Government to tourism, when inserted as a state policy, Mexico was guest of honor at the last edition of the World Summit on Travel & Tourism in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Also mentioned that this country will host the World Summit Adventure Tourism to be held in October in San Cristobal de lass Cases, Chiapas, and invited travel agents to promote the state’s call on their packages Undo Maya.
