Gay Pride in Israel
As a modern country with forward-looking values, Israel has an open and liberal attitude to sexuality. Those who’ve never visited the country are often pleasantly surprised to find that most of the major cities have a thriving gay scene that only adds to the tapestry of local culture. The annual Tel Aviv gay pride week (and parade) is just the centrepiece- events go on all year round.
There are also pride marches in other cities, LGBT film festivals, beach parties, gay and lesbian nightclubs, and a wide range of friendly accommodation options. Israel is a leading travel destination for people of all sexual orientations and absolutely anyone can find a warm welcome here. And then there is the nightlife. Not for nothing is Tel Aviv known as the gay capital of the Middle East.
Of course, Israel is an interesting country to visit for a whole host of reasons. There is the ancient city of Jerusalem, which is a centre for both pilgrimage and for tourism, the strange and wonderful Dead Sea, great food of all kinds, and some gorgeous beaches with a lot more sun than the hottest summer in the UK can possibly offer. There is no shortage of museums, art galleries, and shopping opportunities in Tel Aviv and elsewhere in Israel.
For more information on LGBT travel in this part of the world, any interested party can contact the Israeli Embassy in London. They’ll be able to provide more information about top destinations and also answer questions about visas.
